AGRICULTURE & FISHING

Feeding families since 1649.

WE FARM AND FISH

Many of our farms have been here for generations. Stonington is also home to the last commercial fishing fleet in Connecticut, and several growing aquaculture operations for sustainably harvested shellfish and kelp. Agriculture and aquaculture are both governed by the same state and local regulations.

COMMUNITY GARDENS INITIATIVE

Our farms support a burgeoning Community Supported Agriculture system, with numerous farmers markets all year long. In addition to produce, livestock, shellfish and dairy products, Stonington also boasts two excellent vineyards, several horse farms and one of the most respected garden clubs in the Northeast.

EXPLORE OUR FARMS

Navigate this map to find out more about individual farms, farmers markets and seafood purveyors. Please note that the green farm icons indicate Open to the Public, and the yellow icons indicate Private Farms. Many farms have special events, harvest times, educational programs and more — plan on bringing the whole family!
